scattered lightning storms developing along sea breeze... Scattered showers and a few lightning storms will continue to develop along the East Coast sea breeze in the general vicinity of Interstate 95 from Volusia and Brevard counties southward to Indian River and Saint Lucie counties. Lightning storm coverage should increase over interior sections of east central Florida as the sea breeze moves further inland. A very weak westerly steering flow will allow for multiple outflow boundaries to dominate storm development with a general drift back toward the coastal counties by early evening. Overall the storm coverage will be scattered but local areas could receive and few inches of rain in a short period of time where boundaries intersect as a result of slow storm movement. Severe weather is not likely late this afternoon and evening...the primary threat will be excessive cloud to ground lightning. August is the peak month for lightning casualties head indoors at the first sign of an approaching lightning storm.
