... Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 4 PM EST Wednesday...
The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow... which is in effect until 4 PM EST
Wednesday.
* Timing: light accumulating snows will impact locations across
south-central Indiana... north-central Kentucky and the northern
Bluegrass region overnight and lasting through roughly midday
Wednesday. Icy roadways will also be a factor during the
overnight hours and into Wednesday morning.
* Main impact: additional snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches will
affect southern Indiana and northern Kentucky... with the highest
accumulations likely north of a line from Salem Indiana to
Lexington Kentucky. Dramatically falling temperatures and
additional snowfall will help roadways refreeze... causing
dangerous travel conditions overnight into Wednesday morning.
* Other impacts: gusty westerly winds of 35 to 40 mph will be
possible at times through Wednesday afternoon... where wind
chills will drop to below zero at times overnight into Wednesday
morning. The strong winds will aid in travel problems especially
on north to south roadways. Blowing snow will also occur mainly
early Wednesday morning through Wednesday afternoon which will
also cause some travel problems.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... blowing
snow and gusty winds as well as ice covered roadways will cause
travel difficulties. Be prepared for very slick roads and limited
visibilities... and use caution while driving.
