...Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of North Carolina and southwest Virginia...including the following North Carolina...Alleghany NC... Ashe...Surry...Watauga...Wilkes and Yadkin. In southwest Virginia...Carroll...Floyd...Grayson and Patrick.

* Through this evening

* two to three inches of rain...with locally higher amounts are expected by late this evening.

* Flooding of small creeks and streams is possible where the heaviest rain falls. Inundation of flood prone or low lying areas...and low water crossings is also likely.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
