... High Wind Warning remains in effect until noon EDT Thursday...
* locations... the mountains and foothills of southwest
Virginia... southeast West Virginia and northwest North
* Hazards... strong gusty... potentially damaging winds.
* Winds... northwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts occasionally as high
as 65 mph.
* Timing... from late this afternoon into Thursday morning.
Strongest gusts can be expected after midnight through sunrise
* Impacts... downed trees and power lines. High profile vehicles
will be susceptible to the stronger wind gusts.
A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph are likely to cause sporadic power outages... fallen
trees... minor property damage... and dangerous driving conditions
for high profile vehicles. Residents should move unfastened
items... such as garbage cans and deck furniture... indoors.

* at 411 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar was tracking
a broken line of intensifying showers along a line extending from near
Siloam to near Boomer... moving to the east at 40 mph.
* Wind gusts up to 40 mph are possible with these showers.
* Locations impacted include...
and Lone Hickory.

... NOAA Weather Radio test postponed until Friday...
Due to active weather moving into the area the NOAA Weather Radio
test has been push back to Friday. It will be conducted at noon
and will revert back to its normal date and time next week.

A high wind advisory is issued when sustained winds of 31 mph or greater are expected to occur for at least 1 hour. This advisory can also be issued if winds of 46 mph or greater are expected for any length of time.
- Fire Weather Advisory
A fire weather advisory is issued when dry conditions in the advisory area result in a situation where forest or brush fires are possible.
