... A mix of winter precipitation is still expected across much of south central Texas beginning tomorrow through early Friday...
Abundant Pacific moisture will begin to overrun a cold dry air mass over Texas late tonight and Wednesday. Light precipitation will begin as a mix of light rain... sleet... and snow over northern Mexico... moving into western sections of south central Texas after daybreak Wednesday.
The mixed precipitation will increase from west to east during the day Wednesday. Much of the precipitation will fall as a mixture of light rain and sleet... along with light snow in The Hill Country. By Wednesday night... a strong weather disturbance will begin to impact the weather across south central Texas. Although most of the precipitation from the storm system should fall as rain... a mix with light sleet and light snow will occur at times Wednesday night through early Thursday morning. Little to no accumulations are expected Wednesday and Wednesday night.
Mainly a cold rain is expected during the day Thursday... the winter storm should move across the area Thursday night... with some areas seeing rain change over to snow before precipitation ends Friday across the northern Hill Country.
Temperatures are expected to fall close to freezing Wednesday night and Thursday night... mainly over the portions of south central Texas northwest of a del Rio to Bandera to north Austin line. Exposed surfaces over these areas could briefly become slick and hazardous Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Ground temperatures should remain above freezing and melt any frozen precipitation through early Thursday evening. Spotty light snow accumulations of around one tenth of an inch are possible Thursday night... mainly along and northwest of a Juno to Kerrville to Austin line.
Temperatures should warm rapidly above freezing during the day Friday... melting any snow or ice accumulations that occur. People with interests in The Hill Country and Edwards Plateau should prepare for hazardous Road conditions... and avoid making travel plans Wednesday night to early Thursday... and again early Friday.
