The low temperature this morning at Blacksburg was 49 degrees...which is a new record for the date. The old record was 50 degrees set in 1981. Official records at Blacksburg date back to 1952.

The low temperature this morning at Danville was 59 degrees...which is a new record for the date. The old record was 60 degrees set in 2013. Official records at Danville date back to 1948.

The NOAA Weather Radio at Wytheville VA...wz2500...broadcasting on a frequency of 162.450 mhz...will remain off the air awaiting replacement parts. Return to service is expected no sooner at this point than Friday afternoon, 01 August 2014. In the interim...you may wish to consider using one of the following nearby NOAA weather radios...Mount Jefferson NC...wng-588...broadcasting on a frequency of 162.500 mhz...Hinton WV...wxm-72...broadcasting on a frequency of 162.425 mhz...or Roanoke VA...wxl-60...broadcasting on a frequency of 162.475 mhz. Please note...signals on all of these radios will be marginal in the Wytheville area and will vary considerably depending on your distance from the given transmitter and the various topography between your location and the radio transmitter.
