A couple 100F east coast readings today just north of Morehead City NC and just southeast of Columbia SC. Also some spotty 95F plus in Pennsylvania's LSV and MSV. Heat index values 100F - 105F in the Washington DC to Richmond VA region.
The backdoor front / New England high pressure systems forecasted cooling influence was overdone in the Delaware Valley today. I still managed 92F as dew points remained moderate in the mid-upper 60's. Because we are not yet acclimated to the heat and Wednesday will be the 3rd straight 90F plus day across much of the area with lows only in the 70's again, an excessive heat warning is in effect for the Mount Holly metro regions through Wednesday evening as heat index values are expected to reach between 95F - 99F Wednesday afternoon. Code Orange unhealthy air quality alert remains through the period.

DEEP LAYER WESTERLY FLOW AND SHEAR WILL BE STRONGEST NEAR THE COLD FRONT AS IT ADVANCES ACROSS PENNSYLVANIA AND NEW YORK INTO NEW ENGLAND DURING THE DAYTIME HOURS...BUT STRONGEST DESTABILIZATION PROBABLY WILL OCCUR WITHIN THE PRE-FRONTAL LEE SURFACE TROUGH FROM VIRGINIA INTO NORTHERN MID ATLANTIC COASTAL AREAS AND SOUTHERN NEWENGLAND. CONDITIONS NEAR THESE SURFACE FEATURES MAY BECOME THE FOCUS FOR SCATTERED STRONG/SEVERE STORM DEVELOPMENT CAPABLE OF PRODUCING DAMAGING WIND GUSTS AND LARGE HAIL WEDNESDAY

This might sound weird but I had a dream last night that it was 90F but snowing as a result of reading this message. Dont ask me why lol.
I wish I could post more frequently, but unfortunately I can only get dial-up out here in the country (Madison Co. VA) which means I often get kicked off line...
I do want to thank all of you - especially blizzard - for your insightful analyses, and early warning of bad weather: you've saved my husband and I lot of grief over the past couple of years!
And speaking of bad weather... maybe I should take my afternoon nap sooner rather than later!
Temps in the low 90's and dew points in the low-mid 70's creating heat index values topping 100F here.
Lots and lots of moisture for these storms to work with which are now beginning to pop up all over the place as of 2:00 pm!
I know what you mean about dial-up. I remember having it about 6 years ago in a big community in Harrisburg. They used to say I was too far from the pole to get DSL and I didn't want to go to comcast....no way. Having Directv that would be like stepping down to a chuck steak from a filet.
Hopefully, you will get something better soon. It's just not fun loading a page with dial-up.
Keep your weather radio handy as well.
the last storm that blew through kind of dried up and moved just north of me. some light rain - measured 0.01"
Looks like it will roll past us between 18-1900 so 2000 makes some sense. Seems to moving too fast to stall over PA.
Meanwhile, has anyone seen the cluster of storms that just moved into Mass from New York? Reports of baseball sized hail in some places!
Three tornadoes on the ground in western MA, during the evening commute!

Nope! Didn't warrant a warning. Maybe they thought it had the potential to become severe. Hardly anything here but a passing shower.
--------------------------
I had a high of 94F with a max heat index of 104F today, Trace of precipitation.
Looks like we stay warm down this way for the next 2 weeks. 80F - 83F over the next 7 days.
We've been under a flood watch or warning every day for so long it doesn't even register anymore when we see the forecast. It's become the "new normal" ~ only, it sure isn't.
It's insane! I have a friend in Springfield who lives less than a mile from where a bus was tossed.
I heard that a Dad was searching for his 4 children, but found that they had run elsewhere to take cover and they're fine. Could that be the same report, or is it another you speak of?
I'm sorry to hear it, GTO. Those tornados are so damaging and scary. Take care.
Very cool forecast low tonight of 47F.
Mounds of snow followed by sheets of warm rain will do the trick.

A friend of mine had one pass by near his house (he lives about 15 mins or so from springfield), his roof was torn up a bit and trees down everywhere. Luckily it wasn't a direct hit, but they had hail as well.
