JUNE 1st Starts THE SEASON â„¢
I dread having to face this again
HOWEVER......
As in the past this little pyrates deck
is dedicated to PROTECTING those with
special needs during cane season.
I made a promise and a promise I keep.
Please dont be lulled into this thinking:
We won't get hit for another 25 years
The NHC can't even predict that.
Its lazy thinking.And Mother Nature
will think for you.
I saw firsthand at the George R. Brown
the last minute panic by our city
to open a shelter to protect our
most vulnerable.
I heard stories of shelters
turning away people with special needs
Over and over again I heard:
, "I didnt know where
to go" or "I didn't think it would
be this bad." or "No one told me...."
Thats being a victim.
Because YOU have a disability and
NEED sheltering you have the RIGHT
to DEMAND protection.
Call the local emergency management
and ASK: What plans do you have?
Call your disability organization
and ASK: Did you get information from
the local emegency management on where
we go? How we register?
MAKE THEM ACCOUNTABLE
MAKE YOURSELF EDUCATED.
Dont wait for the city to come save ya
they won't. SAVE YOURSELF OR SOMEONE
YOU KNOW WHO NEEDS TO SHELTER.
SO.... here we are again. How many times
have I said:
If you are a person with a disability
and need to shelter please register
TODAY....
Well TODAY is HERE.
PLEASE dont be a victim.
Because then you can become a statistic
Because you are person with disability
doesn't mean
you don't have a voice,
OR DONT HAVE THE RIGHT
to ask,
DEMAND,
register
and BE SAFE.
Pass this along - and keep passing
this along. FROM COAST TO COAST
YOU NEED TO BE ONE VOICED
I will give all information now
on the deck and then it will be
linked on this side of this blog.
I will always update and inform
YOU will always be vigilant.
Please also visit other blogs
that educate during cane season:
Patrap - Hurricane Preparedness
Sandcrab - Emergency Management Information
Vortfix - Severe Weather
CALL AND REGISTER
CALL AND EDUCATE YOURSELF
AND OTHERS
FROM KEHCHARLESTON:
) Medications and Medical Supplies and Equipment, must be part of your hurricane planning - and where possible on your hurricane shelf. This means, during hurricane season, you keep your oxygen delivery systems topped off. (Helps if you know where you plan to evacuate. You can have the phone numbers of physicians, medical suppliers etc. ready. And consider having your personal physician recommend a physician for the place you will bug out. (Communication between physicians ahead of time, would save time later if you need prescriptions etc.)
2) Evacuating the frail or those with medical equipment needs, is slow work - and may be necessary on a voluntary basis. Plan well and early. Besides the fact that the evacuation itself might take a longer time. - keep in mind that there are good reasons for you to get a move on it when an voluntary evacuation is called (if not before). An advancing weather system can have an effect on you physically, increasing your health, symptoms. (Drop in barometric pressure, increased humidity etc). Even during a tropical storm/low level hurricane - a trip to the emergency room could be difficult/impossible.

Sweet dreams
sail on
{{{{Emmy}}}}
I'm listening to Sea Dreamer as I write
to say Good Night..lovely, indeed, but I am
a major Sting fan...between this song and
the one before, Sail Away with Me, I am so
craving a visit to an ocean..I don't have to sail..just see the sea, feel sand between my
toes and listen to the sweet sound of the
waves on the beach. mmmmmm Sea dreams for
me tonight for sure. I hope you have lovely
sea dreams, as well. :-)
HUGS

Hi, EMMY. We are blessed in Colorado this
week..one gorgeous day after another. In
fact, it's as close to "perfect" weather as
you can get. All windows open..all three cats have found a sill..Bud out in the yard, pruning trees, with three happy dogs playing
and following him around. Nice day!! :-)
I hope your day is wonderful as well!

Kat
as you board the main blog?
Fashionable yet protects from
the hysteria that comes out
in the summer - global hysteria
warnings -
so....nudge me when a cat 1,000
is in the GOM and we're all gonna
die....
my other three are useless, but this
one I have earned.... LOL
Kat - so glad the weather is good for you
that rocky mt high feeling
tis a gift one receives, when one opens the door to kindred spirits --allowing their souls a voice and wings to fly free as Pyrate.
For we are one, and we are connected. (that includes you too Kat, WP & all the many others here... if it resonates with you -- you got the connection and you get the GOOD STUFF!!!)
Did all my work, snaked a parking spot, grabbed the board and ran to my Sandbar.... and by the gifts of the Zephyr wind and King Neptune....( & with Help from Pottery throwing rocks off cliff in Tobago) there were these istsy bisty, yet ridable waves...... nothing great, but enough to re calibrate the body, mind and let some steam out of the pressure cooker.
Got MIL Alzheimer time - so I'm off for a while.... the best part of Alzheimer's -- you live in the moment and you don't remember anything bad.... going to fill her tank up with love.....
since the last snow..when was that? 2 weeks
ago? Well, tomorrow and the next day are
forecast 90 ..so..our Spring weather was a
whole 2 weeks..now we get hot and stay hot
til our version of Fall. Drat..was hoping for
a longer Spring. Maybe we'll get a few more
pleasant days sprinkled in with the hot ones.
I hope!
