Another warm week ahead

Looks like it's going to be too warm again this week for the snow to stay around. Monday Jan. 30 we hit a high temperature of 45 and it looks like we did the same today. The rest of the week is looking pretty much the same. Winter seems to have gone away and we are having an early Spring. Juslivn has posted a picture of her tulip bulbs starting to come us as if it is Spring. This is going down as one of the warmest Winters on record for the North.

Just referring back to the weather history, we had two other days this Jan. this warm. Jan. 9 we had a high of 48 degrees and Jan. 10 we got the all time high this month of 53 degrees. This is normally one of the coldest months in the Northland.


This was sent to me by my brother. It's a prayer a so very deeply believe in.

X2-class solar flare today

Sunspot 1402 is rotating onto the far side of the sun, so the blast site was not facing Earth. Nevertheless, energetic protons accelerated by the blast are now surrounding our planet, and an intensifying S1-class radiation storm is in progress.

The explosion also produced a spectacular coronal mass ejection (CME): SOHO movie. Analysts at the Goddard Space Weather Lab say the cloud raced away from the sun at 2500 km/s or 5.6 million mph. The CME is not heading toward Earth, although it is too soon to rule out some kind of glancing blow on Jan. 28-29.

Edited by J. MajorThis SDO image (AIA 193) shows an M9-class solar flare erupting on the Sun's northeastern hemisphere at 03:49 UT on Jan. 23, 2012... just 4 days after a previous strong CME that sparked aurora around the world on the 22nd. More geomagnetic activity is expected for the 24th.
