August 2014 Forecast: critical drought, Extreme heat and feeling like Los Angeles

July was nearly 3C warmer than normal and many areas with some close to 6C above avg. Many areas are dealing with severe drought conditions and fires are being sparked by the dozens.

Areas such as Edmonton have net seen even a modest thunderstorm in nearly 4 weeks.

It may also be the latest Edmonton has received a severe warned storms since environment Canada first issued weather warnings.

Summer 2014 Forecast for Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba

Here is the Summer 2014 forecast.

After a miserable spring, or maybe call it 2nd winter lol. As of June 22 there still has not been a 30C+ day and the colder weather seems to be dragging on into the summer. It has been a solid 5 months since we have been seasonal or above so the region could really use some hot weather. Will it come?
The summer forecast this year will doubly as the thunderstorm forecast as well.

June 2014 Forecast: Say it ain't snow

First look back at May 2014. Overall the month was around 2C cooler than normal with near normal precipitation.
We also broke a 3 year stretch without getting snow during the month of May, That being 2011,2012,and 2013. We also Have an early start to the storm season much like 2013 with damaging storms an tornado risk.

Looking Back at April the forecast came along fairly well. Temperatures were below to well below normal over of the region with the exception of near normal in extreme southern Alberta. Precipitation was near to above in most areas.
