December 2014 Forecast: A little better

By: Mikeman444, 3:37 AM GMT on December 02, 2014

Winter actually arrived around the time mentioned in my "fall 2014 forecast" making my forecasts better in the long term and short. My monthly November forecast turned into a complete flop, instead of being warmer than normal a persistent blast of frigid air resulted in the month being closer to 3C degrees below normal, with snowfall higher than the norm. around 40cm total.
With temperatures dipping below -33C during the month marking Nov 2014 the 4th frigid No...

By: Mikeman444, 4:48 AM GMT on November 03, 2014

A warm to very warm October was tamed only by a return for more normal temperatures by the last week. The month was also very dry, Wildfires were still a problem coming into November. However, we still see winter inching it't way in a few times and November started this way along a wide strip Covering southern Alberta, Eastern Alberta and west Central sask. In a line from Lethbridge,AB to Prince Albert,SK. These areas should count on not being the driest in the pra...

Fall 2014 Forecast! another year, another hot fall!

By: Mikeman444, 10:37 PM GMT on September 22, 2014

While the summer ended on a sour note with heavy snow it was overall 1-3C warmer than normal and drier than normal in most areas. Thunderstorm patterns were stalled for most of the summer resulting in some areas getting significant damage from repeat hits, while other locations(Edmonton) failed to see a severe thunderstorm materialize at all.
Thunderstorms count to 43 in my area but with only 2 of those turning severe 2014 has the lowest severe % on the 10 year...

By: Mikeman444, 3:53 PM GMT on August 31, 2014

August 2014 finished off similar to July, around 2C-4C warmer than normal and quite dry. During the last half of the month the first waves of cold air started to invade, The 2 month long period of heat began to break down. Temperatures dropped far enough that patchy frost was a problem.
After this what would September hold?
