Fuzzy Fun!

Welcome to The Ark

Well, it's been a while since we did animal stuff here, so after RTLSNK and I were posting some doggy pics this morning I got to thinking that we'd do a blog for the fuzzy friends.

So, cute, strange, amazing, or just plain funny animals or maybe just a photo of your favorite pets. Doesn't really have to be fuzzy. If you're into goldfish or turtles, that will work too.

Just keep it clean and fun.

Enjoy!

That was a cute video! Funny part is that our kids never realize that we were dancing and having fun long before they were even born!:)

OK, time to go to work on the planters again.

Back later.

Go over to Finn's blog and watch her video.
Just don't do it if anyone in your house is sleeping. You'll wake them up for sure!

They are all old enough to feed themselves!
LOL

Actually, they went to my parents house and cooked for mom. They are staying at my parents 'cause I don't have room for 4 extra bodies unless they use sleeping bags. Will be heading over there myself shortly to see if anyone is cooking breakfast!

They are heading back to Lakeland early afternoon.

Morning Rob!

33*F here this morning with a freeze warning until 0900 hrs.

Pollen count today is 9.8 out of 12.
Thur is supossed to be 11.3 out of 12.
I may hibernate on Thur with a Benadryl IV drip. :)
And thats with an air purifier going in the bedroom and a humidifier!

Trees that are blooming here are Alder, Ceder, Juniper, and Elm trees.
Eyes are so puffed up I look like a Raccoon in the morning!:)

No, I am not sending a photo.
It would scare the kids!

Thanks for the clue about quote-ting and stuff, I didn't know that!

Going to spend some quality time with SugarBear tonight.

Pottery, that does sound quite inviting. Alas I have company this evening. Got to figure out what we're eating. I'm thinking maybe a stir fry. RTL told me about the Thai place he went to and I've been craving spicy Asian stuff since.

Yeah I read Snakes post about the Peppery Thais....
This is not the same as Peppery Thighs, although the thought does raise some interesting interpretations that may not, in fact, make good DinnerTime conversation unless of course you have the Singular Misfortune to meet Orca and Swampy at the Restaurant.
I dare say that the Notion of Peppery Thighs, debated loudly over Root Beer in a Swanky Place, might not be the Best Thing...

But I suppose it all has to do with the Quality of the Waitresses.

Heh!
Life goes on......
Just back from the City, where stuff and whatnot were the 'Order of The Day".
Have to get back on the road in an hour with Ancient Person, to collect Lady Pott and bring her home.

Last couple of weeks has been a Logistical Challenge,,,,,,,

In the meantime, some Salmon is marinating for the grill, and I will include some brown rice stir fried with 'erbs, a salad, and a bottle of Argentine white wine.. a Trapiche, Sauvignon Blanc.
The occasional Celebration is in order, don't you know?

How many of you shall I set the table for???

You'd think for the kind of money they were charging you that you could at least get some decent creamer, huh?

Warm those muscles up good before you start moving compost today!

Exactly, $3.65 for a small one cup paper cup of coffee with fake creamer.

Yeah, will take it easy too, the pallets are still covered with plastic wrap, shouldn't be too wet. Only bought the top soil and the mushroom compost this time, not the cow manure compost. Thats the stuff that really smells bad when it gets wet! :)

Had the truck put the pallets on the front driveway up near the front porch. Will just drive the lawn tractor with the dump wagon next to the pallets, pull a bag off into the wagon and cut it open in the wagon and mix a bag of soil with a bag of compost right there in the wagon so I don't even have to lift the 40lb bags at all.

Drive the wagon around to the gardens and use the big manure shovel to put it into the gardens. Takes a little longer that way but puts less weight on the knees by not lifting the bags and throwing them in the gardens and cutting them open there. Nothing wrong with my arm, shoulder, and chest muscles, just want to be carefull of the new left knee device. :)

OK, time to stop talking about it and go get to it.
Back later!

Good to be home, they had that awful Starbucks coffee at the Hilton.
I swear there is something in that stuff that upsets my stomach.
Good to have our French Roast here again.
They also didn't have half and half, but that white chemical crap made up out of chalk.

No fritters this morning, but I did manage to get some Cinnamon rolls on the way home. :)

OK, we are back home at last!

House is fine, gardens are fine, didn't actually get that much rain in our neighborhood according to SugarBears rain guages that she has in the gardens.

Looks like tomorrow I start on the 60 bags of top soil and mushroom compost. Very, very, slowly. :)

Just scored a double dunk slam on Orca and Swampy in the same post!

Better go hide for the rest of the evening. :)

Will check in early in the morning.

If they come looking for me, tell them I went to bed!

Got my brother's family out the door and on the road. He'd planned on leaving early because he's taking a load of citrus and peach trees from the nursery to the UF farm and was worried about them getting too hot in the trailer all day.

I don't think that's gonna be an issue. Went from sw winds and steamy to nw winds and cool in about half an hour here. Blowing a gale off the lake at the moment. Only got a tiny amount of rain.

Niece was sad about leaving. Told her we should go take the battery from the gate and they would have to stay until they found it. She replied, "Or we could take the wires loose on daddy's truck and we'd have to stay a long time!"

I love her devious little 8 yr old mind. A girl after my own heart.

Would sort of be like hooking up a Nitrous Oxide bottle to the engine of a dragster!!!
Would be funny to see the flames shooting three feet out of the tailpipe though wouldn't it?
The piping would be a little uncomfortable though wouldn't it? :)

41*F in Atlanta this morning.
I found where they hide the coffee pot for the employees this morning.
The guy that guards the parking lot is an ex vet, he saw the Ranger Tab on my rear windshield and got to talking to me when I parked next to the guard shack last night. He told me where to go this morning to get free coffee! Yesterday I had to pay $3.65 for a small cup of coffee. Today was free!:)

We have to check out of the room today at noon but SugarBear's classes don't end until 1630 hours. They have a nice lounge where I can take a nap this afternoon until she gets finished, then we'll take off for home.

OK, time to wake SugarBear to get ready for breakfast. The Hilton has a great breakfast chef downstairs, Homemade bisquits with sausage gravy, sausage patties, sausage links, bacon, scrambled eggs, cheese grits, hot oatmeal, home fries, steak fries, waffles, pancakes, yogurts, donuts, cinnamon rolls, pastries of all kinds, bagels and toast, butter and jams, juices and coffee.

OK, now I'm hungry! Back later!

I'm terminally frustrated, and thought this might be a good place to ask my question.

My cousin scanned a photo at my aunt's house today, and sent it to me as an email attachment. We both use gmail.

The photo showed up not as the normal jpeg, but as something called an "application/octet-stream" file. It downloaded, but wouldn't open. This is what I found on the internet:

A MIME attachment with the content type "application/octet-stream" is a binary file. Typically, it will be an application or a document that must be opened in an application, such as a spreadsheet or word processor. If the attachment has a filename extension associated with it, you may be able to tell what kind of file it is. A .exe extension, for example, indicates it is a Windows or DOS program (executable), while a file ending in .doc is probably meant to be opened in Microsoft Word.

No matter what kind of file it is, an application/octet-stream attachment is rarely viewable in an email, Usenet, or World Wide Web program. If you are using a text-based client, such as Pine, trn, or Lynx, save the attachment to your account, then transfer it to your personal computer. If you are using a workstation-based client, such as Eudora or Outlook, the application should be able to extract and download the attachment automatically. You must then open the attachment in the appropriate application to view its contents.

I tried every program I could think of to open the thing - graphics, Word, IE, etc. My cousin has no idea how she created it, and I'm completely stumped. I've never come across anything like this.

Is there a way to open this baby? Or is she going to have to take the photo over her house, scan it within a different system and then try to resend as a regular jpg attachment? Very weird. ;)

Finally, for Taz:

I did take the opportunity to let Windows 8 preview download today while I was away from the computer.

Will install it on VBox tomorrow.

Looks interesting, especially for Tablet PCs and might allow Microsoft to take off in that market.

Microsoft recently introduced Kinect for the PC. I understand now where they are going with the new UI.

Now...on to the weather.

We aren't supposed to get any rain until the wee hours. A chance between 1am and noon tomorrow. It is certainly windy however with gusts exceeding 35 mph locally. More of the same tomorrow.

Personally, I'd be well pleased if we didn't get any rain out of this one, even though we could use more. She's a nasty girl and I want no part of her.

Hey Gamma!
Thanks! I don't know what I'm gonna do when that little girl grows up! Maybe I'll have a granddaughter by then. The boy is cool too. Likes to play Xbox with me and go exploring in the woods etc. The two of them were raking up oak leaves, which surprised my brother..."that's not really her thing". So I asked what they were going to do with that big pile of leaves. The boy said "Jump in them!"

My brother told me he wished they had a place like this so they could run around a play and build forts, etc. like we did as kids. He takes them to the farm, but it's not the same. They love it here.

I have a brief respite while they are at my Mom's house. They will make tacos and I'll go there and play with them for a while until bed time.

Brother also brought me 2 more peach trees, bringing the total to 4. Next spring I'll have home grown peaches!

Good to see you keeping RTLSNK Straight!

Good Afternoon Whatnots!

I'll tell you, this being a Photographer's Assistant is a rough job. My cell phone went off at 1230 hrs and it was SugarBear telling me I had to wake up and meet her downstairs to attend the annual Rocky Mountain School of Photography's Buffet Lunch and Cheesecake Extravaganza. There are over 200 photographers and their families at the Hilton this weekend for the two day sessions so the place is packed like a can of sardines.

So I was forced to have a light lunch of BBQ'd chicken, lasagna, new potatoes, rice pilaf, corn on the cob, green beans with those crunchy onions on top, salads of all kinds, and A LARGE CHUNK OF STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE WITH STRAWBERRY SYRUP ALL OVER IT.

Did I mention the home made sourdough rolls?

And tonight from what I understand a bunch of us(who the hell are these people?) are all going to a big Thai Restaurant somewhere in Atlanta for dinner together.

I think I should avoid the scale when we get home tomorrow night. Maybe for a week.

I should rest now, she said she was going to call me again at 1630 to make sure I was awake.:)

Will check in later tonight, if I am not just wore out from my busy schedule of course.

Haven't had time to check the news. Didn't get out of bed until 8. Slept really well, which I really needed.
