TROPICAL WEATHER SECTION

2009 Named Storms: Ana, Bill, Claudette, Danny, Erika, Fred, Grace, Henri, Ida, Joaquin, Kate, Larry, Mindy, Nicholas, Odette, Peter, Rose, Sam, Teresa, Victor, Wanda
IN SIMPLE TERMS OVERVIEW:--- Low in GOM off of SW Florida will continue to bring heavy rain before moving NW into Louisiana on about Sunday/Monday!
IN SIMPLE TERMS:--- I don't see a Named Storm will developing from the Low off of SW Florida. A strong 850mb Vorticity return is observed with the main spin at 26.5N 88W. Computer models (right click to open a new window) are not showing the possibility of anything Tropical Developing. I do have to decrease the the percentages of something to develop to only a 15% above average conditions chance for something to develop (Tropical Prediction Analysis). Shear is Forecast to continue to improve over the next day or so. Water temputatures in the mid 70's just to the North is the only thing that would prevent this from turing into a Named Storm. Nothing will develop but, bring more flooding rains to Florida. Why the Flooding Rains? The Low is on the South side of a Strong High. (Look at the Steering Flow graphic above) Until the High moves off shore into the Atlantic it has no place to go except drift slow West North West before moving NW then North up the West side of the High Pressure. The problem is that the High is not moving East very fast. (look at this Loop! Right click and open a new window and be Patient as it is a large File) While the Low continues to spin off shore of Florida, it is taking its affect as Inland flooding in Florida from Rivers and Streams is a big concern. Moderate to Minor Flooding is just starting to hit the Graphical Map above. If you are anywhere along such concern be prepared! Above is a link to River and Flooding. Its a great Link. Folks i just don't see anything developing except alot of rain falling (another 10 inches possible)! Conditions are just not favorable for anything to develop. I have stated such since last week. NOTHING WILL DEVELOP!
A quick overview of conditions needed for Tropical Development:
Sea Surface Tempartures of at least 80deg F or 26.5C
Wind Shear 23kts or less
Mid Level moisture in the troposphere of 5km
Low Level Spin with weak Low Pressure
Steering Flow with at least 300miles from the Equator
under a high pressure ridge
Future Moisture Track
Sufficient Voricity and Convergence
Climatology in a favorable position
IN SIMPLE TERMS OTHER INTEREST:--- The GFS long range model reveals another wave of Moisture coming out of the Carribean near Haiti in about 5 days hitting Florida with another nice soaking. This will be monitored in the coming days. I will start Model Analysis on this feature and label it "feature 2" in my Tropical Prediction Analysis Tab with a (-15%) of below average conditions for anything to develop!
Long range Models show nothing else organizing over the next 10-15 days! Folks we are about to enter the boating season for many with a very large Holiday weekend that usually includes water activity in Florida. I would like everyone to freshen themselves on boating safety and visit my tab at the top labeled "BOAT, TIDE, & BEACH"! This will give you all the info one would need for safety and also give you what to expect on your local waters. I think i have put together a pretty good arrange of info. for you to follow. REMEMBER SAFETY FIRST!
I see nothing else of issue in the next 48 hours!
Remember the National Hurricane Center are the Professionals and release complete updates at 11 and 5 on the hour and partial updates at 2 and 8 on the hour if needed. Also, the NHC identifies the Tropical Season from JUNE 1st THRU NOVEMBER 30th
SEVERE WEATHER SECTION
