	Some Halloween History

Oh the fun of History! Today, Halloween--once All Hallows Eve, and in some places All Saints Day…is a time for children to trick or treat costumed as super heroes or the latest characters invented by corporate profit . Or is it for grown and often married women to dress as….shall I say….slutty. Look at the costume offering. Amazing.
In Ireland it is Samhain…..

Here is some history of Irelands Samhian for those who care…..

Yes my Irish ancestors, They thought that at the end of the summer season the "veil" between the human world and the otherworld became thin. A great time to talk to the dead! I wonder if Gramma will read this and call…..Do not misread this Gamma……..:-)

There were also ritual fires to ensure that the sun would return the following spring and there is still a lingering belief that children born on Halloween have supernatural gifts.

Traditionally, Samhain was celebrated with feasting and guising (dressing as the dead). It was customary to eat certain meals at this time, such as colcannon (a mixture of mashed potato, cabbage, and red onion). Another food associated with this festival is fruitcake or bairin breac (barmbrack) which had items in it that were used for foretelling the future--a pea (or rag) meant poverty, a bean meant wealth, a religious medal meant the finder may enter a convent or seminary, a ring meant marriage, and a stick meant that the person who received this in their slice of cake would be beaten by the marriage partner.

Did you forget about me?? Great-Aunt Ethel's Tuna Noodle Surprise was so GOOD, you said. Some leftovers to take home? Of COURSE, you said. That was THREE MONTHS AGO!!! And here I sit, covered with aluminum foil. The mayonnaise won't speak to me, the ketchup makes fun of me. The eggs, ever so indignant, moved upstairs to another shelf. Did you forget about me?? I haven't forgotten about YOU, my dear. Come on. Just pull me out, pull back the aluminum foil. PLEASE. I haven't forgotten about YOU. Happy Halloween!!

My 7 yr old missed being a Halloween baby by about an hour... I was ticked when someone pointed out it was past midnight so her birthday would be the first LOL Happy Halloween Mobal

Why Mobal, Thank you for mentioning me in your header but I have no idea why????? :o) My "Halloween Costume" is always something sweet and nice like "Little Bo Peep" or "Red Riding Hood" or something like that! I have no idea how you could call those "slutty" ROFLMAO!!!! Oh Heck YES, us that cannot ever be "slutty" in real life enjoy taking it to the "edge" on Halloween! LOL And cannot let anyone know which one we are! total ability to remain innocent while being bad! LOL
