Weather rants and raves by Nocaneindy

Well here we go with Winter Storm Euclid, and unlike last week, those of us in the Ft. Wayne region will probably remember that name for at least the short term. A southwest ejector, Euclid, will move into our area by mid morning at best.As it moves to the northeast, snow will be the major issue us here face. The GFS seems to have a good handle on this system, please do discount the NAM and it's exceptional totals. We and no one near here hopefully recieve anything close to it's totals. I do believe there will be 12" swaths of snow to the near south of us, but here in the city I'd say a good half foot will hopefully fall and be all there is. Between here and Muncie the worst weather will likely occur, as this is a narrow band of heavy snow. Points further north and west towards Chicago will see much less, and points south to recieve more. A typical winter storm it is, other than it being a rarity in these parts these last few seasons. Climate change, global warming or not, we are overdue for a major snow event. Here in Ft. Wayne this barely covers wsw criteria, but we'll take it as we can. My figure is actually in line with the lower totals of the NWS, and I expect 5 to 6" here on the southeast side of town with less to the north and next to nil nw. To the south will be where the best of blizzard conditions remain, from a Indy to Muncie line on up to north western Ohio. I do believe the NWS has a good handle on this, so instead of posting links and such I will just leave it to them for the issue of forecasts and reasoning. A white Christmas not here, but the day after oh yes indeed. 5-6" here in town, more south, much less north and northwest.

I'll try and keep some sort of update rolling tomorrow, as long as we get our snow. To all involved the next day or 2, just take your time and don't rush yourselfs. Better late than never, the motto to follow the next couple days. I plan on doing this blog tip a bit more than I have of late, and will improve it with maps and tracks and all that jazz as I get warmed back up to it. Time heals all wounds, or makes you forget how to link and add pics at first lol. It'll come back though. Stay safe all, godspeed.

First blog in quite a while and I'm gonna make it brief. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the Ft. Wayne area by the National Weather Service Northern Indiana office. Generally they are forecasting a broad 3-6" swath across the area, with the higher totals north and west of the city. After looking over the various computer models and such, I tend to concur, with perhaps a little emphasis on the middle and higher range of the official forecast. Where I si...

A stormy and wet day is at hand. As of this sentence the first rumbles of thunder can be heard in the Muncie area. With this first area expect some torrential rains and possible hail. The more severe side of things will not ramp up until this afternoon, and it's then that we will need to watch out for the possibility of some severe weather. There is a threat of some tornadoes, but with some luck we may just end up with large hail and torrential rain being the predom...

After a relatively dry week here in the Muncie area rain and thunderstorms are returning to Central Indiana. From the looks of some computer models, and HPC guidance, lots of moisture could be on the horizon. Today through Saturday nightRadar shows a area of light rain to our west that will arrive this afternoon. There is a chance of some thunderstorms, but they should be weak in nature and not come close to severe limits. Still, a strong storm cannot be ruled out. ...

Well long time no blog. I must say I've finally learned my lesson regarding flu shots, and will be getting one annually from here on out. I don't like sickness, and I've had a lifetimes worth the last few weeks. Rant over.Forecast now through mid-week to be much coolerWell we've dried out quite a bit since my last post. No flood threats currently in our area, which is nice. We've been spoiled with this warm spring weather, but reality is returning swiftly. No more t...
