One more day
Monday, Nov 3, 2008:
Hopefully today and tomorrow will be the last of the non-stop campaigning and debating and we will know who won the elections by late Tuesday evening. This election has almost been surreal.
Sunday, Nov 2, 2008: The Dolphins beat Denver 26 to 17! YIPEE!!!! Whoooo Hooooo!!!
Friday, October 31, 2008:
It is Halloween. Busy day with the grandkids. Got pictures of them all now in my blog. DIL and Son have their little Halloween Party with cousin Rylee and other friends tonight at their home. Hubby and I have work very early tomorrow so we cannot go. But I did go over earlier and get some pictures. Happy Halloween!

Halloween Glitter
Thursday, October 30, 2008:
Earlier I thought about doing a Halloween blog for a few days. Would keep it fun. And my previous blog has already covered about four subjects/topics. So when I am home tomorrow I will decorate this blog with Halloween pictures but for now this will have to do.
Oh yes, talk About Scary....My Company (which I keep the name OFF of these blogs and I hope you will also)has finally announced to the Business world our 7,000 job cuts. About 10% of our company will lose their job. Some will stay on until after the first of the year which will help those people. And all of the spending cuts that are going to take place; and no merit increases in pay for next year. All bonus cancelled and even the little recognitions will be stopped. They had already announced no Holiday spending, no get togethers no parties, or Holiday meals will be provided to the employees. This will be a "Grinch" Christmas around this place.. but we still have a job...well some of us do. It is in all of the News Reports right now "Hot off the Press"....however we've known it was coming for some time. Now this is a Scary Halloween Trick to deliver to some folks. We had some reductions in jobs last March now we have even more.
Will try to get some Halloween Pictures of the grandkids here.
This is Baron in his 2008 Halloween costume. Monkey man!

I hope to get picture of Cole, Rylee and Ty tomorrow.
Got them today!

Thank you for your kind words and thoughts
Monday, October 27, 2008:
I mentioned below that Ellen and Christian and Rylee were in Orlando this weekend at Disney World. This morning we get a call and Ellen has lost the baby. She went to ER in Orlando and they checked her out and confirmed the miscarriage. Ellen is going to be ok it is just sad when you lose a baby. She was still in the first trimester and that is when most miscarriages happen so it is not unusual but still sad. She has been released and they are driving home now. She will take it easy for the next 2 days and stay home and rest up and heal up.
Sunday, October 26, 2008:
It is Dolphin Football Sunday again. So far so good but only in first quarter. Also, for those wondering.. the Portlight Strategies FlashChat is open and folks are there talking with SJ and RM while they drive home from Texas. Such fun.
Dolphins Do Not Blow it this week and Win 25 to Bills 16!!!!
Sat: Oct 25, 2008: I put in some posts and articles in the comments this morning about a local girl who grew up and became an Olympian. While Hubby and I have followed her career and watched her on TV, we have never met her yet. But she is in town this week and tonight we get to be part of the "small gathering" being invited to her family's home for a Congratulations Receiption. Please read about Sanya Richards.

Disclaimer: I do not want anyone to think I am trying to take attention away from the storms we had this season and the friends and family who are still in recovery mode from current storms. Those are immediate concerns. Wilma was not the strongest storm to hit the United States, many were stronger, but to those of us in it's path, it was pretty nasty.
October 24, 2008:
What were you doing on this day in 2005? Well, I had been on the computer all night long on this site tracking Hurricane Wilma as it made it way toward South Florida. I watched it until around 7am when my power went off. Then the eye wall came thru that morning. We had watched other storms come thru in the past 26 years but never one this powerful over our home. We had the Eye of Irene come over in 1999. We were affected from many others like Andrew, Francis, Jeanne, Katrina, etc. But nothing like Wilma; and it was a "backdoor" storm for those of us on the Eastern Coast. Just goes to show you (as we have now learned many times over) the Everglades does not slow down a storm at all.
1:30pm: Just now decided to add this info on Wilma. I see it was a Cat 3 according to this while it crossed Florida.
(later told it went from Cat 3 to Cat 2 at 110 mph halfway across state.. while I do not believe it I must report it so it appears this WU map is not correct..but I think it is LOL)

I think somewhere I have a few Wilma pictures back in archives.
At the bottom is Barron's 9 month picture and he is now
14 1/2 lbs and 25 1/2" tall.. which is a far cry 9 mos ago from 2 1/2 lbs... He is doing great thank you all!

Pic of Son in Texas
Tuesday, Oct 14, 2008:
Pam just sent me link to this picture of Greg working in Texas and the information from Corps.
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Assists Texas Communities Through its Temporary Power Mission After Hurricane Ike

After disasters like Hurricane Ike, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers assesses critical electrical power needs and manages the installation of generators to provide power that keeps key community facilities like hospitals, water and sewer treatment plants and law enforcement facilities operable until the power companies can restore the utility power distribution network. (Photo by Robert Haynes, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Paul District.)
As I said, got in some of my professional wedding pictures. I am having a hard time with the scanning process but wanted to post one or two here (if it works) of the family.
Here is our "Group Picture" all 8 of us and the two oldest Grandkids, Cole and Rylee
It shows, Christian, Ellen, Hubby, Betsey, Scott, Patti, Greg, Pam and on bottom Rylee and Cole.

The Five of Us, Hubby and me and the 3 grown Kids.
Greg, Gamma, Betsey, Poppy, Ellen

Cole and Rylee:

Rylee's 3K preschool pictures taken 2 weeks ago.

Oh well, now they are not showing earlier they were. Will try something different later. They show up if you hit refresh or come back? sometimes they show up sometimes they don't... don't know why.
Monday, October 13, 2008:
Well, looks like the Stock Market made the highest ever gain in one day of trading. Up as of now, may correct this later once final figures are in but it appears to be up over 950 points.. almost 1000 in gains today. We will all feel more comfortable when it gets back up over 10,000.
So I guess what goes down, must come up????
Actually closed up 936.42 for maket of 9387.61

Grandbaby # 5 coming next May !
Sunday, Oct 12, 2008:
Making Lasagna and Watching Dolphin Football with the family. Sure hope they keep their winning streak going!
Oh well, I guess those two Dolphin victories in a row were a fluke and our real Dolpins are back again. Lost to Houston after making stupid moves in the last few seconds.
Saturday, Oct 11, 2008:
Hubby spoke with son yesterday, he may be in Texas another week or two. Some are being sent home but they want to keep him a little longer.
Thursday, Oct 9, 2008:
I haven't given an update on son, Greg, lately. I put details in a post below. He is still working out of Beaumont, TX and going on 4 weeks this Saturday since he left home. Working non-stop pretty much since he got there. Now the large generators are coming back in instead of going out. But they all have to be refurbished before being stored away for the next emergency. Several of the workers have now been sent home but my son is really good at this and they are keeping him until the end. He has made a big difference in Texas; providing power where none is available does help things get moving faster.
Wednesday, October 8, 2008:
I cannot believe how fast this past week has gone by. WOW, time flies when you are having fun is true! LOL I had to take Betsey and Baron to the airport yesterday afternoon. Sure going to miss them, especially that Baby Bear! It's Back to Work tomorrow to start my work week. So hope all of you are doing well as you are now in the middle of yours! Have a good one.
Sunday, October 5, 2008:
Got the family here and all four grandkids. Cole, Rylee, Ty Mitchell and Baron. Rylee has on her Dolphin Cheerleader outfit! Let's Go Dolphins!!!!
Miami Dolphins Beat SanDiego Chargers 17 to 10
YIPEE!!!
Friday, October 3, 2008:
Well, there is enough disappointing news running around so I must look for the good news.
It's official, Grandbaby #5 is on the way. We won't have a sure due date (not that babies actually keep them anyway) for another week and it will be another month or two before we know if it is a boy or girl but Rylee Jo is getting a little brother or sister next May!
And have been so busy this week with Betsey and Baron in town I have not been around much since last Sunday but my prev blog was getting tired so I had to go ahead and open a new blog thread.
Had to go find my drought map again. I am surprised with all of the rain we've had so much of the state is orange and red again.. I guess it is only in spots!
