From Quiet in the Tropics earlier this week to getting very busy in the tropics now. Oh Dear!

Saturday, August 9, 2008:
Happy Birthday my Leo Sister, Ogal!!!

Wed. Aug 6, 2008: Today it appears the tropics are calm!

Tuesday, August 5, 2008:
Today Rylee and I got to meet Oakland for lunch. It was great to meet another WUBA who has been here from the beginning. Of course, until the picture is approved so I can put it in the header, I have it below in a post. Actually the picture got approved so now it is in the header. Thanks approvers!

Sat. August 2, 2008:
Wow, from nothing to now 3 invest and one of the in the GOM. Guess we got some blob watching to do my friends! "Tis the Season!"

Tuesday, July 28, 2008:

Going to close the prev blog. You know me I get bored with my blogs after a week. I do have pictures in the previous blog; a few I made at the wedding and rehearsal dinner. They are sort of blurry but the best I could do with my camera.

I will keep this blog open and not have a theme. "Now back to regular life" Just going to watch the tropics and try to get our life back to normal for a while. I will put back the drought map but not the dancing baby. We are above normal in rainfall for SE Florida right now but I now we are still in trouble until more water gets into Lake Okeechobee. But our canals and lakes are full and they are dumping our water into the ocean again...but we cannot use it whenever we want for yards! Go figure; we can pollute the ocean with this water but cannot water our yards any time we want!

Oakland, Gamma & Rylee (seflagamma)
Finally Oakland and Gamma got to meet each other over lunch in Ft Lauderdale; and of course Rylee was with us. Another wonderful WUBA meeting.

Looks like the part heading my way is dying out. Figures! Of course if 92L pans out, there may be a lot more moisture headed our way.

that is crazy... we really got to get our butts prepared here in the next week or so!

Mike/Rich, I saw your post over on Dr M's blog and went to read all about your trip to Cuba. I loved it!!!

Hi Tony, Thanks for stopping by... I have no beef with anyone.. I just love to enjoy life as much as life will allow me!

Huri I just got a sewing machine in spring 2007..so far I've only made sofa throw pillows for the patio! I don't know if I could make a tote bag...I do want to get back in to sewing.. My Mother was a wonderful seamstress she made all my clothes growing up (and I was "best dressed" in HS. .I would design them and she would figure out a way to sew them)... I could sew pretty good back in the 70's but sort of lost the touch.. but I do want to get it back when I get a chance!!!

Oh Wanda, remember I grew up right outside of Memphis, and on Memorial day the temps hit 100 with 98% humidity and things didn't change until after Labor Day... and very few people had pools! Every summer we got yearly family membership to the public pool and went there everyday in the summer time.

LOL LOL Aquak, part of my problem is I don't throw anything away. always thinks someone may use something.. actually after Wilma. us neighbors were really great for each other....no matter what any of us needed one of the neighbors had it in our stash of hurricane supplies! It was great! yes will keep everything, got all that rope in a big plastic bin!

Sngalla, will bring you some when we finally get to meet for lunch! LOL you know I was surprised at the amount of battries we have.. because we go thru a lot of batteries..

.hubby's got a cd player in the garage that he uses all the time and it runs on "c" and goes thru a lot of them. and the grandkids.. when Baron comes he uses a lot of "D"'s on his baby swing and glader and the bouncy chair... and forget about the batteries Rylee uses in her stuff. That is why I am always buying batteries... we use alot..just didn't know I had so many stashed away! LOL It is storming outside now... bbl..

Looks like a pretty good swipe across Broward County. when doing my walk this morning the canals and lake at the park were full of water.. they are probably letting it out into Ocean again.

sngalla,

yes, I still need some more charcole.. and I haven't gotten to the food stuff yet....

I did learn after Wilma that I didn't have enough "chocolate snack foods".. me and my daughters were going crazy looking for chocolate snack foods and I had peanut butter crackers, chips, regular cookies, etc.. but no chocolate in a time of stress!

Next year will be in the market for a small battery operated digital tv. Our one we have now won't work once everything goes digital.

Oh that is another story... we had to borrow a eighbor's antenna after Wilma because I didn't have one for our tv...and we had a generator so could watch sometimes.

so after wilma I bought 2 sets of atenna's and they have never been out of the box!

now after next year they will not be good for anything!

yep, got to go with a digital TV after this season..

Found out during Katrina(3 days no power) that the battery operated radio did not cut it. Reporters keep going, "look at this". Was sooooo frustrating!

yes, I remember that after Andrew and without power for 3 days with only a radio.I was going uts to see what had really happened down in Dade county.....and back then in 1992 very few had those little battery tv's....

since then, one of our neighbors has a little TV when when we get desperate for live view we can go to their garage!

actually after Wilma we were able to turn TV on after Wednesday when we got a generator! (and an antenna) until then didn't have but one extension cord of power for the fridge (from a neighbor who had a generator.)

'I like "seeing" better than "hearing" also!

I did it. got it all organized in plastic containers..all the stuff you need. got two plastic bins of batteries! LOL

At least now I know what I still need to get (I had no duck tape... now how on earth can a hurricane supply kit be completed without duck tape LOL)

got my list and will try to fish it up this week... then if a storm approaches all I need are the last minute stuff like ICE and fresh fruits, etc

and dinner was great...shrimp on the "Barbie" and steaks... now full and tired!

probably going to go and watch a little TV and go to sleep.

see you all in the morning!

Just now moving around a little and wanted to come and see what happened last night to our 92L.. I see it is still there but nothing really changed since last night. It is still pointing in this direction.

Today may be a good time to start filling up my 5-6 gal gas cans...maybe do 2 today and 2 later in the week and the last 2 ???? well it is according to wht happens later. LOL
geeze you know that is going to cost a fortune this year to fill those cans up...

I will return later.

Good Morning Gamma,

Well, usually I try to find my last post in a blog and then read forward, but your blog has just been too busy and I don't have enough minutes in the day to read them all! That's what I get for not making a visit in 2 days! Suffice it to say that I scanned it enough to see that it looks like you are getting prepared for some stormy weather in your future? Looked like just getting supplies ready - and that is always time well spent.

I see the sun is coming out here this morning. I took Sadie for our constitutional walk about town this morning and I've got my week planned out with a little vacation prep everyday so I don't put in all in one or two days and exhaust myself.

So - that said - off I go to clean 3 bathrooms and vacuum (that I'll have to do that 2 or 3 more times before we go - my daughter dropped her kitty off here so he could stay for awhile - so now we're 2 for 2 - 2 cats - 2 dogs - all shedding!)LOLOL

Crab, I still have my Fushia WUBA duck tape.. forgot about that..but I keep that in the "Arts/Crafts" closet in the office.. that is too pretty to use as reguarl tape..Rylee and I have fun with that~! So happy to see you again we were starting to get worried! Hugs to daBride!

Karen, you are probably out walking Sadie now or cleaning bathrooms... yes, I've been trying to tackle one "project jobs" every weekend (my weekends) 2 down about a doz to go!

I did complete most of my hurrican supply closet now.. only some last minute stuff and a few "nice to haves but not necessary items".

Rylee is here so she is getting annoyed at me on the computer..

I will check back later.. I see we now have 93L keeping 92L company! YIKES!

No there isn't.. so Amy, get to doing those laps girl!

Well looks like we will have a sleep over guest today.

Ellen went to doc today; she thought she had a sinus infection from allegeries...and thought it had "gone into her eye" when doctor saw her he could not believe how bad of a case of Pink Eye she had! A life guard is a lot like a school teacher and you are around kids a lot.. when the girls were competative swimmers in middle and high school. they got pink eye alot... because that germ can really spread in the water..I mean eventually the chemicals kill it but it is alive for awhile.. well she got a bad case of it, we guess from last week.

and she sure hopes she has not given it to Christian or Rylee.. so Poppy went over to help put up Rylee's new "big girl bed" with the canopy.. and he brought her back after I spoke with Ellen on phone.

She will just stay with us tonight and I normally have her all day on Tuesday anyway.

well the "little boss" is yelling for Gamma...

will be back later...

When I was little, I used to get pink eye every time we'd go up to my Granny and Papa's in warm weather. I'd get it from his cows! I loved to pet the cows and Herefords were real prone to pink eye. There was always at least one or two with it and, of course, those were always the ones I ended up petting.

He later brought in an Aberdeen Angus bull, to cross breed with the Herefords. The Aberdeen Angus were a bit resistant to pink eye, plus being a good beef breed.

Hope Ellen's eyes clear up soon. It's a miserable thing to have. I hated having to peel my eyelids open in the mornings. They'd be glued shut with all that gunk! LOL

Oh boy,

Rylee was up at 7am on the dot this morning. I had the baby monitor on in her room and could hear it in my room .. I heard her get up...the bed rattles as she gets out.. she has little conversations with herself (I runs in our family LOL).. sings a little song to herself... .I get up and sneek in to surprise her and she is stilling in her rocking chair watching TV just as sweet as could be!

He already told me last night she wanted Eggs for breakfast... and we wanted to go out for breakfast.. so this week we did IHOP!

we did so many errans this morning.
Breakfast, bank, dry cleaners, drop off 3 bags of household stuff to Good will.

went to gas station. Hubby had one container already full so I filled up 3, 5-gal containers... it cost $60 ($20 per container)..then had to top off my gas tank for $75... that is crazy $135 in gas this morning.

but we now have 4 containers full of gas which can last at least 4 days.

and we went to Publix and got more stuff I didn't get yesterday (for us to eat now LOL)

So now going to read the newspaper while Rylee watches her TV shows and hopefully wants to take a nap soon!

I will check in later... looks like we still have 92 and 93 out there.. but I haven't looked since 7am this morning.

Again, Happy birthday Doc and SJ!

Good afternoon Gamma...

We didn't get any rain out of that nasty looking storm that kicked up yesterday afternoon. We've been getting on/off "sun showers" which actually makes it even more humid.

I'm starting to get a little cautious with 92L. I don't like the way it looks. Hopefully recon can give us some good news. I am pretty much stocked up on food, water, gatorade etc.. Have alot of meats sealed by the food saver in the extra freezer.

You and Sngalla were talking about TV's yesterday. We have DirecTV so as soon as Wilma was gone and the generator hooked up, we were able to watch everything. It was great.

Hi bills,

yes, you mentioned about having direct TV after wilma and as soon as you had power you had tv.. our son has the that also and he loves it. I get so fed up with Comcast we may switch someday soon. At least I no longer have them for internet service..and the people that do have days they have no service.

Guess what, I have had about 3 rainstorms today; not nearly as much lightening, thunder and winds as last two days..without much rain..today got a lot of rain. almost 1 1/2" so far and looks like another wave coming thru soon... so getting a lot today.

Rylee's up now..going to take her home in the next 30 mins..giving Daughter time to rest up..she is going to go to work tomorrow since she has been on antibodics 24 hours today so tomorrow will be 36 and Doctor said she only had to stay off work yesterday and today.

My blog is getting long...and it is a week old now... I feel a new one coming up soon! LOL

Hi Gamma! It looks like all kinds of places in Florida are getting rain according to your radar up there!

I just returned from the pool. Felt lovely today. I think more people show up when the Olympics are on! LOL

I put in my mile which equals 1800 yards, or 72 laps. It's working better, and believe it or not, faster, when I do my swim in sets of 100 yards. I feel like I'm getting stronger.

I hope to keep up swimming even when school returns. The swimming pool is on the campus of my work site - so I really have no excuses. I have a bathroom in my media center, so I can change and go....absolute no excuses...except for when it gets cold out!

It is an outdoor pool, and they do keep it heated (although not too hot - you can make a pool too hot to work out in) but it's the getting out part that is hard when it's colder out!

I'll just take one day at a time and see how it goes. I still have some time before school starts and I know I'll miss it on vacation - so I'll just have to go jump in the lake! LOL

Hi Rylee!!!

Sounds like you had a busy day, Gams!

How are Ellen's eyes? Clearing up some?
