Weather Summary

Weather Underground Forecast for Monday, July 07, 2008. Large areas of low pressure will drive much of the continent's weather Monday.

One of the low pressure systems will stretch from off the western Ireland coast to the North Sea. Because it will encompass the United Kingdom, much of the island will experience widespread showery weather. This feature will also drive a small low pressure system that will produce moderate to heavy rain in the Alpine area of the continent. In addition, mild to cool air will plunge well southward into Germany, Belgium, Holland, France, and northern Spain.

A second large low pressure system will stretch from the Gulf of Finland through the Scandinavian Peninsula. In combination with the aforementioned low pressure system, it will produce moderate to heavy rain through southern Norway and Sweden. Denmark should also experience precipitation. Scattered rain is also likely in the cool air over Finland.

Some precipitation will gradually leak into Poland and western Russia late in the day.

The hot air will be limited to Italy and the western Black Sea.

London will rise into the mid-60s(F)/upper 10s(C), while Paris will see temperatures in the mid-70s(F)/upper 10s(C). Moscow will rise into the lower 70s(F)/lower 20s(C).

Wind shear has remained about 10-15 knots, and the storm appears to be responding to these slightly more favorable conditions by generating a larger area of heavy thunderstorm activity near the center. The tops of these more vigorous thunderstorms reach higher into the atmosphere, and thus show up as colder in infrare...

Weather History:

Did you know that...

It was sunny on this date in 1991 at St. Paul Island, Alaska. This is not exciting until you know that the next 60 days were cloudy, with the next sunny day occurring on September 5th. When the sun finally came out, the island reported a daily record high of 55 degrees.
