The storm was still some distance away when I took this. All of the sudden, the wind came up and I eventually felt a few drops of rain and went inside. Once the storm was overhead, of it was quite violent, with heavy rain.

Thanks for the comments! I really wasn't expecting this shot to be in the "approver's choice category", which is always an honor.

Jan : the location is in the title - "Marseille" - which is along the Mediterranean coast in the South of France.

Type in the city name. You can even get down to street view and explore the city a bit.

Thanks "stinkeyweasel"! I just looked at some of your close up shots of the lightning - very impressive! I hope you were in a shelted place.. The lightning in my pic. is a few miles away.

Great shot. I love France. I have not been to Marseille, but have been to Nice, Cannes and Paris and several other cities. I always wanted to have bouillabaisse in Marseille. Perhaps someday.....
