Steptoe butte WashingtonI have always wanted to see the Palouse in person. Images I have seen remind me of a Robert Lewis Stevenson poem of my childhood, Land of Counterpane. Garth Books illustrated a version in The Tall Book of Make-believe and this real place is almost looks much like that illustration.

I've never heard of this before. That's why I love this site so much. I learn of places I might never even hear about. This is a gorgeous place and now on my list of "hope to sees"! Thanks for sharing your beautiful picture.

Thanks so much, spring and fall are the times to go. We really noticed how the light effected what we could do. I am pleased with the results myself, and just after this lovely sunset, we had a moose walk past the car. To fast for an image and what a strange place to see a moose. I looked it up and they occasionally wander in. A moose loose in the Palouse!

About Olbetsy
Olbetsy I am somewhat new to photography. I purchased a digital camera in 2003 and the hobby swiftly took hold. My camera gets me out and about and has enhanced all my senses to find what this world has to offer. I am also a quilt artist and I use my photography to help me understand color and form that can transfer into quilt art. I am an active member of Emerald Photographic Society and was honored as most promising photographer in 2007 and photographer of the year in 2008. I have recently had images published in National Geographic and the National Wildlife refuge library. There are three contributors to my success. I carry my camera (s) with me most of the time and I committed to shooting at least 100 images a day. I anticipate everything but expect nothing. Most importatly I have grown to appreciate fellow photographers for insights, tips and all around friendship as much as the hobby itself. I love to see through the eyes of others and WU is a favorite place to visit. I am inspired by the talent found here and have a never ending itch to travel and learn!
