I hope they bring more than a little rain to you! Gosh, this looks like something right out of the Dust Bowl -- the sepia tone is exactly right for the subject.

Update: Congratulations on your new AC!

...so dramatic! (and sadly, so true...) This is the worst drought in over 40 years in Texas, has caused extreme problems lots of places, and your photo sums it up extremely well!

I'm not sure you guys aren't worse off than we are, Tim! I hope those clouds did bless you with moisture! Your photo looks like it came straight out of one of those coffe table books on the Dust Bowl. Awesome depiction of this severe drought.

Congratulations!!

makes one think of the dust bowls of the 30s when so many people took leave of their farms and went to look for work. The Hungry 30s, it was called. Such hard times for so many folks. It certainly can happen again.

You paint a sad picture Tim. I can't help but think of those who have invested so much only to dace a terrible drought. You pictures really capture the sadness and desperation they must feel. Still praying for rain! Great shot.

I can't say anything more than has been well said already so I'll just say Amen to everyone else's comments, and hope that it will rain as much as you need down there. Wish we could send our unwanted humidity and too much rain down there somehow. Kathy

Tim, that captures the mood around here too. Coming home from Lake Jackson on Sunday last, we were surprised by a brief shower. My wipers were so confused they ran backwards. We got 4 tenths... That's about four drops in every tenth square foot. Hey, ya haff to laugh.

About docshovel39
docshovel39 Hello , my name is Tim . I live in the small farming community of Ropesville , Texas with my wife and photo partner Sherry . I got involved with photography because of my older brother Steve - a fantastic photographer who lives outside of Seattle , WA . My favorite work , apart from his , is a terrific book entitled " Ghosts in the Wilderness " by Tony and Eva Worobiec . It captures the remains of small , abandoned rural communities across the Midwest , much of it shot in black and white . I also have become a fan of photographer Jim McGuire . His black and white shots ( nashvilleportraits.com) are amazing . Thank you for your comments and have a GREAT day !
